1984

A multi-sensory, first-person exploration of Orwell's masterpiece, 75 years after its first publication

This Spring, step into a multi-sensory, first-person, live theatrical exploration of George Orwell’s masterpiece.

For the first time ever, experience in person the unsettling dystopia of perhaps the defining story of the 20th Century

Entering this 30,000ft2 building in the heart of Airstrip One’s London, it will feel like you’re literally stepping into the pages of Orwell’s novel. Ever-present Telescreens maintain a watchful eye, while the characters, spaces, sights and sounds of Orwell’s world come to life across seven floors of explorable performance space, full of hidden treasures and horrors.

Before and after the live show, the ‘proles pub’ will serve a welcome pint of Wallop ale and food inspired by Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia (the three warring superstates featured in the novel), while a ‘secret’ Gin bar will serve fortifying Victory Gin cocktails.

Inner Party ticket holders will enjoy exclusive access to a pre-show lounge bar offering a complimentary Victory Gin cocktail and a glimpse of Inner Party life.

Audiences will leave feeling they have experienced an extraordinary live performance, a uniquely entertaining night out and an acute warning - that today’s post-truth environment and the erosion of democracy is not so very far from the world of Big Brother…

This official production is presented to commemorate the 75th anniversary of publication 1984, with thanks to The Orwell Foundation.
